Mom's Birthday

For Mom's Birthday we will gather to celebrate. 

So Hayden & I googled her name while laying in bed. 

We looked at pictures and read from both my sister & brother's blogs. 

It's been almost 7 years & I have learned to live with the void she left. 

And I hate that. 

I never wanted to be okay with her not being here. 

We will laugh & reminisce about our cherished memories. 

But as I realized my little boy doesn't know my mom, 

I am sad 

and am not okay with her absence.

 Cancer really sucks.

Happy Birthday Mom! ‪

So its sheet cake and smiles today

Five Years Ago

It's been 5 years since Mom died.

 We gathered for a picnic at the cemetery. 

We shared memories and favorite things about Mom & Grandma Kathy.

 

We put a wreath together with pictures of all of Mom's family on it.

Then we wrote messages on the Red & Yellow Balloons ...

... & sent them to heaven.

Just FYI: I still hate having my mom in heaven...

May is Melanoma Awareness Month

May is Melanoma Awareness Month!

May is also the month we celebrate Mother's Day!!

It is because of Melanoma that I get to stand in a cemetery on Mother's day

to wish a headstone with my mom's name on it a "Happy Mother's Day"!!

Too many of us know someone who has had melanoma or is fighting it.

My family knows how hard the fight is.

We didn't get the happy ending but we all learned so much during my mom's battle.

We felt your prayers.

Cancer Sucks!!

I hate cancer - like really HATE cancer!!!

Do you ever feel like EVERYONE is getting it???

Sandy Hein, the sweetest lady from my Sego Lily ward just passed away on Sunday.

My dad's mission companion, Gary Bengtzen is having to fight it. They have been our family's close friends for as long as I can remember. His cute wife already battled it twice!!

Steve Brewster from the ward I grew up in (Butler 8th ward) is enduring the fight.

Manda's friend in Indiana has small children and is fighting it AGAIN!!

I have a friend whose cousin just died, leaving her husband with 5 little ones ...

Ugh - it is every where!! I wish it would just GO AWAY!!

As for my experience with my mom -

I don't ever want to do it again, but I wouldn't give it up for the world.

I don't give cancer any credit!! All cancer did was take my mom away.

I hate Cancer!!
