26th Anniversary in Texas

 🐂Texas

Wednesday June 16th we decided to get away for our 26th Anniversary. We flew out and landed in Dallas Texas where it was HOT AND HUMID!!!

Our first stop: AT&T Stadium Tour $70

After we took a Pit stop for Drinks $2 and headed to dinner in Waco.  We found a BBQ restaurant - Salt Grass Steak House

(A- Ribeye D- Stk/shrimp Carrot cake) $82

(Aaron realized he forgot his jammies and made a quick stop to buy some at Walmart Jammie run $20)

Thursday June 17th we went to the Silos.

I'm not going to lie... I was underwhelmed.  I wanted to be in heaven and love every bit of it, but I didn't.  It was smaller than I thought and not a lot to see.  It is beautiful.  I'm glad we saw it but I'm not sure I need to go back. Plus it was SO DANG HOT!!

Lunch Grilled cheese $23

Cupcake $6

If you are planning a trip to see it here are the tips I was given mixed with some of my own:

-The silos open at 9 AM.

-You can park right next to the silos.

-The bakery starts to get a long line after 10 AM, go to the bakery first thing in the morning and get cupcakes when there is no wait.

-After cupcakes, head into the main market building to shop.

-Then go around back where all of the small individual shops are and magnolia home.

-Stop for lunch at the food trucks. There are places to sit all around.

-If you want to see some of the fun stores around it, walk down Webster street to The Findery (big red building on the corner.)

-They have a 2nd store down the street

-You can go into her garden shop as well on the same silo’s grounds.

If you have time to spare then you can do the following:

-Go to her Original magnolia store. It’s a scratch and dent store and really small. You drive to that, it’s about 5 minutes away. It’s called “little shop on bosque”

-Then head about 3 min down the road to Clints wood shop. Also small, not much to get, but fun to see. It’s right next door to Clint’s house they re-did and you often see Clint in the back working.

Since we didn't need much time at the Silos, we decided to take a Tour of Waco.

Waco Tour $180

We stopped for Drinks $2 and headed back to Dallas for dinner.  We ended up at

Dunston’s dinner $63 (horrible service and you will STINK like a camp fire when you leave.)

We stayed at the Dallas Downtown Marriott which ended up being a funny story.  Once we checked in there was a sketchy guy that looked just like DJ Khaled at the elevator.  We struggled with how to work the elevator and said our room number several times in the chaos.  We smiled at our sketchy DJ friend and went to our room. We unpacked and while Aaron was doing his nightly exercises we has said sketchy man knock on our door twice.  Aaron didn't open the door but asked what he needed.  He stating he had the wrong room.

Aaron showered and called security.  He just didn't feel good about it.  I was IN BED and ready to crash.  The security guy knew exactly who were were talking about even though we said "DJ Khaled" totally wrong.  Our security friend smiled and had us move rooms.  Sketchy man didn't have a room there and we still don't know what he wanted or how he beat the system with the confusing elevator to get to our room.

Friday June 18th we took Dallas tour $260 and a JFK Tour.  I was excited about the JFK Tour but it ended up being a little dark and filled with conspiracies.   It was still really cool to see the places I have seen on TV for years about the day JFK was killed.

Memorial for JFK designed but Jackie.  She wanted it cold, ugly, and sad because that is how she felt and what they did to JFK.

Home where Lee Harvey Oswald was staying when he shot JFK.
Nothing has changed.  The family decided to keep everything exactly as it was.  She added JFK news clippings but kept everything else the same.

The was the granddaughter of the lady who owned the home Lee Harvey Oswald rented the room from.  She used to sit and do her homework with him.

It was HOT AND MUGGY!!!
We were drenched in sweat and ready to head home.

window where he waited to shoot JFK.

We headed home after.

I love vacationing with Aaron.  Although this trip was hot and sweaty and had a few "duds" - we didn't care.  We got to get away and enjoy each other for a few days.  Totally worth it!
